A series of trainings on geoinformation technologies for united territorial communities

he reform of decentralization in Ukraine has placed on the agenda new directions for the training of specialists to provide created united territorial communities by geospatial information for the development of scenarios for development and management of the territory.

Together with Center for Innovations Development, with the support of the program for Ukraine on local empowerment, ULEAD with Europe, World Data Center for Geoinformatics and Sustainable Development of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute started a series of trainings for representatives of territorial communities.

Two trainings on the use of ArcGIS geographic information system in asset management have already been conducted for 40 representatives of united territorial communities. The trainings were conducted on the basis of the pilot infrastructure of the situational center of World Data Center for Geoinformatics and Sustainable Development of Igor Sikorsky KPI for the purpose of approbation of the scenario approach to land resources management and development of community development strategy. During the training, community representatives mastered the basic skills of working with the ArcGIS toolkit, filled the test geospatial databases, worked out the main scenarios for spatial planning and community development.

The knowledge and skills gained by community representatives will help in organizing information on land resources, analyzing land tax revenues, planning community development.
